The Lord is my shepard

Written by Debbie Brown -

The Responsorial Psalm for this past Sunday was the Twenty-third Psalm and our response was:  “The Lord is my shepherd, there is nothing I shall want.” It is such a beautiful Psalm and gives us such comfort in difficult times and times are about as difficult as they can be these days. It is such a roller coaster ride of emotions. We go from worrying about the latest statistics which are downright frightening to hearing of the promise of drugs to help cure the disease. And other times, we enjoy quiet time at home getting things done and finding some satisfaction in that but then we really miss seeing our loved ones. I encourage you to spend some time thinking about some of the phrases in Psalm 23. If you don’t have a bible, here is the link on the US Bishop website for this past Sunday’s readings: http://usccb.org/bible/readings/050320.cfm. I know people are fearful and restive and missing family and worried about so many things so I can only offer the voice of our Shepherd Jesus. In John 10:10, the last line of our Gospel reading from last Sunday is a quote from Jesus that is so profound and hopeful: “I came so they might have life and have it more abundantly.” Please stay safe and know that prayers and resting by still waters may be all you can do right now and be content with that.
