Becoming Catholic

How Do I Become a CATHOLIC?

Catholics believe that personal faith in Jesus Christ and in the Church is a gift from God Offered to an individual who is searching for the truth about life and is open to God's initiative and living invitation.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is an ongoing four-step program within parish life.  The program is specifically designed for Non-Catholics wishing to become Catholic and for Catholic adults who have not received the sacraments of Eucharist, Reconciliation, or Confirmation, and also for Catholics who have been away from the faith for some time.  New members are welcomed into the Church, and at the same time it is important to lead every Catholic parishioner to a greater depth of personal spirituality.

Whether unbaptized or baptized in another Christian denomination, the RCIA program helps adults to grow in their relationship with God.

The first step of the journey is to contact the Rectory Office at St. John the Baptist Parish at (716) 937-6959 and speak with our Pastoral Associate, Sr. Ellen McCarthy.  You will be given more information about the RCIA program and the opportunity to meet, should you desire.

We invite you to become part of our faith community!
