No more than two excused absences per mini-course are acceptable. After two absences, families will be contacted to discuss home study. Students will be marked incomplete if too many classes are missed or if their attitudes and/or classwork are unsatisfactory. Our office does call if a student is not in class without prior notification.
The students and their family are welcome and encouraged to join our 11 am Sunday Youth Masses.
If a 6th-12th grade student would like to participate in the Mass by being a Greeter, Reader (Lector),
Gift Bearer, Usher, or sing in Youth Choir, please contact Mrs. Jean Czerniak at Youth Ministry one week before Mass.

Service: to your parish, community, and country
As youth-members of St. John the Baptist Parish, you are all called to reflect the love of Christ to others. Christ calls each one of us, not to be served, but to serve others.
As you work toward your Confirmation, you are requested to perform 10 hours of volunteer service each year for 9th, 10th, and 11th grade. This will accomplish the accumulation of 30 service hours by January of your 11th grade which is required to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Check out Faith Formation News and Service Opportunities for events containing opportunities to fulfill the service requirements and to become a participating parishioner. Below is a link to the service form.
9TH AND 10TH GRADE STUDENTS IN CATHOLIC SCHOOLS: 9th and 10th grades are preparation for Confirmation in 11th grade. We ask that those students who are parishioners of St. John's Parish and are attending Catholic High School also register with the Religious Education Office. There is no fee for Catholic High School students in 9th or 10th grades. We invite those students to our 3 assemblies, the 10th grade Enrollment Service, other special events pertaining to those grades, and keep in contact with them about service opportunities within our Parish. Catholic High School students are also required to obtain a minimum of 30 hours total of volunteer service during their 9th, 10th, and 11th grade. Students must re-register each year.
CELL PHONE USE: We understand that there are certain situations where the students need to use a cell phone. A classroom setting is not one of them. Please make it clear to your child that the use of a cell phone for calls, texting, or photography is not allowed. If you child is sick and need to get in touch with you, that can be done in the Religious Education Office. The use of these devices is very distracting in class, not only for the user, but also for the rest of the class as well. If a student uses the cell phone in class, it will be collected by the teacher and after class, it will be returned when a parent comes to the office to retrieve it.
YOUTH GROUP: We invite and encourage all of our 9th and 10th graders to become involved with Youth Ministry to enhance their spiritual lives.
But the LORD said to me, "Do not say, 'I am a youth,' Because everywhere I send you, you shall go, And all that I command you, you shall speak." Jeremiah 1:7
